Short description

A custom-written and illustrated book tracing the history and identity of a family-run business, shaped as a human narrative of work, continuity, and generational responsibility.

Full description

A family enterprise is more than an organization. It carries decisions made across decades, risks taken in uncertain moments, values sustained over time , and the evolving relationship between family and work.

The Family Enterprise History Book is a custom-created book that gives narrative form to this continuity. It traces the origins of the business, its turning points, its transitions between generations, and the principles that have guided it. The focus is not promotional or corporate in tone, but rather human.

These books hold the lived experience behind the enterprise, early beginnings, expansion or contraction, moments of difficulty, succession, adaptation to changing times, and the personal commitments that sustained it.

These volumes often serve as:

  • A structured record for future generations entering the business
  • A reflective document during succession or leadership transition
  • A commemorative volume marking a significant anniversary
  • A private archive preserving institutional memory beyond oral history

Process overview

The process begins with a written briefing outlining:

  • The enterprise’s origin and timeline
  • Current structure and leadership
  • Generational involvement
  • The scope of material to be included (archives, photographs, documents)
  • The central question: What must not be forgotten?

We then conduct a series of structured listening sessions with founders, successors, and selected contributors. Each conversation focuses on a defined period or transition, ensuring clarity rather than anecdotal accumulation.

From this material, the atelier develops:

  • A chronological narrative framework
  • Thematic chapters (origins, expansion, crisis, succession, transformation)
  • Integrated contextual commentary when relevant (economic, regional, or industry context)

Writing and illustration evolve together. Visual elements may include:

  • Restrained interpretive illustrations
  • Architectural or geographic references
  • Select archival photographs integrated with editorial structure

Drafts are reviewed for factual precision, sequencing clarity, and tonal coherence.

Language is refined to ensure it reflects the enterprise’s character without exaggeration or promotional framing.

The final result is a composed volume that reflects both the operational history and the human decisions behind it.

Each Family Enterprise History Book is:

  • Fully custom-written from primary conversations and archival material
  • Structured chronologically and thematically
  • Grounded in lived memory rather than corporate messaging
  • Developed through recorded listening and editorial synthesis
